Provenance and freshness

Every signal records which process produced it and when it was observed.

Scan is deterministic analysis of the submitted artifact. Research is public repository data gathered from the web. Evaluation is a model-driven assessment of how an asset behaves, by simulating execution; it is not active yet.

Model-driven assessment of how it behaves, by simulating execution

A signal is observed when the artifact is read during a scan or an import, and the record keeps that observed time. Vettd does not refresh signals on a schedule: a record is as fresh as its last scan or import. Ages are shown relative to now, not as calendar dates.

Two categories are populated today by evidence gathered from the submitted files rather than by observing runtime behavior.

Reliability & Quality currently reflects static analysis of the submitted files rather than observed behavior. Cost reflects what an asset declares it needs rather than what it spends at runtime. Both are first-pass signals. Read them as a starting point, not a settled measure.
